The full form of Pokemon is Pocket Monsters but in short it is called pokemon

The term Pokemon is used outside of Japan.
In Japan it has the same name of Pocket Monsters.
It was the brain child of Satoshi Tajiri to catch the insects in something.Firstly he made Capsulemon and after the release of Blue and Red he made Pocket Monsters which litrely means Monsters in my pocket.

Not to be confused with another manga named "Monsters In My Pocket."Its not Pokemon.
