Did Nintendo Ever Come to India???

I just wanted to ask this because I remember that many many eons ago, when I wasn't aware too much about Nintendo, except for Mario, and when the Pokémon craze hadn't started here, in short, when Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time was released.. There was a campaign which Mirinda was running.... The TV ad had a guy walking with a straw, sipping a mirinda and totally engrossed in his Game Boy Color, playing what looked like an Oracle of.... game. The Bottles had Pictures of Link and Zelda, and some info about the game... I don't remember much.. was too small!! But anyone who was on the wrong side of ten at that time.... do you know what was that about??
Why didn't Nintendo continue their promotions after that??
